How we met!
Asma came to Toronto to attend York University in Sept 2001. Omar landed in Canada with his family in the summer of 2002 and also attended York University. Although they both shared a common Bachelor's Major (Information Technology) - they did not meet each other till their final year at University!
They had one IT class together in which they wound up being group partners as well. It gave them a chance to get to know each other. Once the class was over they stayed in touch and over the months their friend ship grew stronger and stronger.
In time they became good friends and before they knew it, their parents had met and you know what they say once you get your parents involved - "the rest is history!"
Asma Hasan
Asma is the middle child in a family of five kids (4 sisters & 1 brother) and was brought up in Dubai. She is extremely close to her parents and all her siblings. Growing up in Dubai, she was surrounded by a big and loving family; Aunts, Uncles, grandparents and cousins. She also had some great school friends, who she is still very close to.
She came to Toronto in 2001 for her University education and eight years later she is a CA, working at KPMG and still living in Toronto. She had never imagined that she would be living in Canada, being from Dubai she had never wanted to be living anywhere else in the world. But, given the fact that she met Omar in Toronto and is now getting married to him, she is grateful that her parents did send her to Canada after all!
Omar Shahzad
Omar came to Canada in May 2002 with his family. Omar enrolled in York University, his younger brothers Omar, Osama and Shanay enrolled in Highschool. He started working at Tim Hortons and the York University Bookstore (full time, part time, nights, depending on what he could squeeze in my school schedule). Time spent at York University was great: learnt the importance of hardwork, made some great friends, andmost importantly met Asma!
He Graduated in 2006 and is currently working at Rogers.
Interests/Hobbies: hiking, trekking, back packing, reading, music and spending time with family and friends! Nothing like a new experience or new learning - no matter what it is!
